CURLY HAIR SERVICES FOR EVERY CURLY TYPE
a stylist who actually understandS curly hair
Too many salons treat curly hair like straight hair with a problem. It’s because there is a shortage of training for curly hair…but not at Versus Salon. Our stylists are trained specifically for textured hair—wavy, curly, and coily, from 2A to 4C. Each curl is cut in its natural state, which means your cut works with your curls, not against them. The result: styling becomes easier, and our clients go longer between haircuts, looking great.
At Versus Salon, we’ve been transforming curly hair for over 25 years. We understand curl pattern, porosity, density, and how each factor changes the cut and recommended care.
LOWER-MAINTENANCE HAIRCUTS FOR EVERY CURL TYPE FROM 2A TO 4C
The best curly haircut is one you don’t have to fight every morning. At Versus Salon, our low-maintenance curly cuts are designed to work with your natural curl pattern—not against it—so you can spend less time styling and more time living.
Our curly hair specialists shape your curls to fall naturally, creating a defined curl shape that holds between wash days. Every service includes a personalized curl maintenance plan, frizz-reduction techniques, and product education so you can confidently care for your hair at home.
Whether you’re dealing with 2A waves that lose definition or 4C coils that need shape and length retention, our expert stylists customize every cut to your curl type, density, and porosity.
Curly Services
WHAT TO EXPECT
Your appointment begins with a detailed consultation where we assess your curl pattern, hair history, current routine, and goals. This allows us to customize your service based on your hair’s needs and desired results.
Your hair is then cut curl by curl using a precision dry-cutting technique to enhance your natural pattern, improve definition, and reduce frizz. Once the cut is complete, we cleanse and condition your hair, address porosity, and prepare your curls for a full transformation. If needed, porosity treatments are incorporated to help restore moisture balance and improve curl performance.
The service ends with a curl transformation (wash and go), training on proper diffusing techniques, and personalized product recommendations so you can maintain your results at home—whether your goal is volume, definition, or overall hair health.
In some cases, results may take multiple visits if the hair is highly porous or damaged, as restoring moisture balance and curl integrity is a process. We recommend our curl journey packages for these instances.
before your appointment
Arrive with clean, completely dry, and fully detangled hair, preferably washed the day before so your curls can settle into their natural pattern. Wear your hair down and free of ponytails, buns, braids, or stretched styles. Bring inspiration photos and be prepared to share your current products and routine. A detangling fee will apply if more than 15 minutes of detangling is required.

LET IT DOWN
For best results, please arrive with your hair completely down, dry, detangled, and no ponytails, buns, or braids. These can alter your natural curl pattern and affect the accuracy of your curly cut and styling results. Additional charges will apply if extra time is needed to detangle your hair for more than 10 min.
DRY HAIR
Because your service begins with a dry curly cut, your hair must be completely dry when you arrive for your appointment. Please detangle your hair beforehand, and avoid using brushes or combs that pull or stretch your natural curl pattern.
This is a frequently asked question.
How do I get rid of frizz?
Frizz is the most common issue, often caused by humidity, moisture loss, or damaging habits like touching hair while drying. Solutions include using a microfiber towel (or t-shirt), applying products to soaking wet hair,How often should I wash my hair, and what products should I use?
Curly hair tends to be dry, so it requires infrequent washing (1-3 times a week) with sulfate-free, moisturizing cleansers. Regular, deep conditioning is essential to keep curls hydrated. How can I define my curls without the "crunch"?
Many struggle with stiff hair after using gel. To fix this, apply a light-hold gel or mousse to soaking-wet hair, and once completely dry, "scrunch out the crunch" with a light oil or serum to leave curls soft and defined. What is the best way to sleep with curls/wake up with good hair?
To avoid tangles and flat curls overnight, use a satin or silk pillowcase or put hair in a high, loose ponytail using the "pineapple" method.
WASH ‘N’ GO STYLE
Your stylist must be able to work with your natural curl pattern in order for you to receive a shape and product routine that actually works for your curls! We want to see how you do your wash’n’go style each day. Day Two or Day Three wash’n’go hair is ideal. Curls that have been created by twist sets, braid styles, etc., will impact the results of your service, and your stylist will be unable to complete a Versus Curl Cut.
